Good Life District

Grand Island, Neb. — In a resounding statement, voters in Grand Island threw their support behind the creation of a Good Life District Economic Development Program.

Unofficial results from the Hall County Election Commissioner’s Office show that “For” votes more than doubled the “Against” votes, with 5,044 residents voting for the program and 2,415 voting against. In total, 7,488 ballots have been tallied, which is a 28.65% voter turnout in Grand Island.

“Tonight’s special election results are indicative of our community’s desire to grow,” Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele said. “It also makes our community the first in the state to usher in this new program catered toward vast development and expansion.”

Once the election results are certified by Hall County Election Commissioner Tracy Overstreet, the city council will consider the creation of an economic development program as authorized by the voters.
